Hi everyone,

As many of you know, the Magnolia Community Club had our yearly meeting at the hall on March 11. We had eight guests that attended, many of whom hadn’t been out before, and took part in offering their opinions, so that was very exciting! Every one was interested in volunteering in some capacity and with getting involved in various tasks.

This is a great principal: if each person who is a member at the Magnolia Hall volunteers only one time per year, that would increase our volunteering capacity incredibly, and not be too much of a strain on busy lives! We really appreciate the work our volunteers do in regards to the hall, and want to say “Thank You” to all of them!

The meeting went very well. Everyone participated, and we had a very purposeful meeting.

We were sad to have our dear friend and fellow board member – Debbie Charest – resign from acting as Treasurer, but I guess after 25 years of service, we had to let her go! As she has stated: It is time … She has over the past number of years been taking care of the grant applications and the hall rentals as well as her position as Treasurer.

Debbie will still be doing a little volunteer work with us – and giving us a hand in transferring a number of her responsibilities to the new Treasurer, which we appreciate so much!

We welcome Christine Giezen to this challenging position on the board! Debbie will be a hard act to follow since she did such a great job of so many things, but we also know that Christine has the ability and the loyalty to take over this position with success! Thanks again to both of you!

The rest of the board members remained the same, with a few people adding a little more to their responsibilities. Brad Danyluk will be continuing to get more seriously into his Sponsorship role, which he has been doing great at, as well as the wonderful job he has been doing getting quotes and being a great fact and information finder. Someone else will probably take over the Hall Rentals, although Debbie will still have a hand in that for a little while.

After the meeting, we spent time talking with one another and the board got some great feedback on what we are doing now and what we are planning in the future. If you would like to see some of the items we accomplished in 2013, 2013 In Review is a good place to start to see a comprehensive list!
